Coffee is very popular as a drink in the morning to start the day for the body and mind to become more refreshed, and also commonly used as a beverage to accompany during sleep late at night.
Although not categorized as health food / drink, not a few studies have revealed that drinking coffee-even 3 or more glasses a day-has health benefits. Now there is even Green Coffee Turbo that can help those who are in the fight against the scales.
A 13-year study – and involving more than 400,000 people – conducted by the National Cancer Institute and published in the New England Journal of Medicine, concluded that coffee drinkers had a 16 percent lower risk of premature death.
Coffee contains high antioxidants
A Harvard researcher, Edward Giovannucci, in a study published in “Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention,” notes that coffee has more antioxidants than most vegetables and fruits. In fact, a 2005 study found that coffee is in the first place as a source for antioxidants in the diet of Americans.
Coffee lowers the risk of cancer
Coffee consumption has been associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer, endometrium, prostate and liver cancer, and those associated with obesity, estrogen and insulin. A 2008 study in Sweden found that drinking at least two to three cups a day may reduce the risk or delay the onset of breast cancer.
But not only women who get benefit. A recent study out of the Harvard School of Public Health found that regular or non-caffeinated coffee resulted in a reduced risk of prostate cancer.
Also, many studies have concluded that caffeine, in the short term, can improve brain function including improving mood, response time, alertness and other cognitive functions. Caffeine can also increase the body’s metabolism (burning calories) as much as 3-11%, can even improve performance in sports or exercise.
But this is only short term. When you drink coffee every day (with the same dose), then the body will produce tolerance to caffeine, so the effect will be reduced.
